The Birth Class
Know your Body, Trust your Instincts & Navigate Birth with Confidence.
A four week childbirth education experience with Dr. Sura Corrigan, DC, LCCE
Birth is one of life's most profound experiences. It is a moment of transformation for a mother, for a baby, and for the family they become.
Your body holds an extraordinary capacity to birth. Understanding how your body works, learning to work with birth’s rhythms, and discovering the strength within you can transform the way you approach this experience.
But preparing for birth is about more than knowing the stages of labor or learning what to expect. It's about understanding the significance of birth, connecting with your body and preparing yourself emotionally, physically, and mentally for the journey ahead.
Come ready to understand your body, discover your strength, and meet your birth with greater awareness, confidence, and trust.
The Birth Class prepares you for both.
Through thoughtful education, hands-on demonstrations, embodied practices, reflection, and practical preparation, you'll develop a deeper understanding of your body, your baby, your choices, and the experience of labor.
You'll explore not only how birth works, but what it can feel like, how to work with its intensity, and how to navigate uncertainty with greater confidence and clarity.
Because feeling prepared doesn't mean knowing exactly how your birth will unfold. It means having the knowledge, tools, and support to navigate the experience with self-preparation, birth knowledge, skill and confidence for the best possible birth for you, your baby and your family.
More than a traditional birth class
You can learn the stages of labor in an afternoon. But what prepares you for the moment when labor becomes intense, you begin to doubt yourself, or a decision needs to be made while everything is happening quickly?
The Birth Class goes beyond the basics to explore the physical, emotional, psychological, and practical dimensions of birth.
Together, we'll explore:
The wisdom of your body. Understand birth physiology, your pelvis, your baby's journey, and the role of movement and positioning.
The hormonal blueprint. Learn about oxytocin, endorphins, adrenaline, and the importance of feeling safe, supported, and protected.
The psychology of labor. Explore fear, pain, intensity, confidence, and the moments when birth may ask more of you than you expected.
Working with the experience. Practice breathing, movement, sound, touch, and comfort measures that may help you cope with labor.
Informed choices and advocacy. Understand common interventions, ask meaningful questions, and navigate unexpected changes without viewing a different birth outcome as failure.
The transition into parenthood. Begin preparing for your baby's arrival, early bonding, recovery, and the support you'll need afterward.
This is not about achieving a perfect birth or following a rigid plan. It's about understanding your options, discovering what matters to you, and preparing to meet birth with greater awareness and flexibility.
Your four week journey
Week 1: The Meaning of Birth: Power, Possibility, & Purpose

Birth is not only a physical experience; it is deeply emotional and psychological, too.
What happens when labor becomes intense? What if you begin to doubt yourself? How do you navigate moments of uncertainty or when things don't unfold as expected?
We'll explore the psychology of labor, the changing experience of contractions, and the emotional turning points that can arise during birth. Discover practical ways to work with intensity, build confidence, and meet challenging moments with greater awareness and resilience.

Week 4: Birth in Practice: Partner Support, Advocacy & the Unexpected

Birth is your experience, but the support surrounding you matters. This week, your partner or chosen birth companion joins us for a practical, hands-on session focused on working together through labor and birth. Learn how to offer meaningful support, communicate during intense moments, and help create an environment where the mother feels informed, respected, and supported. We'll also explore the choices and interventions that may arise during birth, so you can approach decisions with greater understanding and confidence.
You'll explore:
The partner's role during labor: physical, emotional, and practical support

Why I Created The Birth Class:
“I created The Birth Class because I wanted to help women prepare for the parts of birth that I feel are often overlooked in traditional childbirth education. Birth is a multidimensional experience, and I believe preparation should honor the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of becoming a mother. Birth prep to me also includes learning to navigate uncertainty, meet your own power, move through intensity, trust your primal instincts, practice surrender, and make wise decisions in moments of pressure. Of course, understanding how to work with your body during labor is an important part of preparation. But it is only one part of the experience. A woman’s mental state, nervous system, emotional landscape, beliefs, fears, and sense of safety all contribute to how she experiences birth, postpartum, and the transition into motherhood. This class is designed to prepare women on every level, helping them develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their bodies, and their innate capacity for birth so they can approach this experience with greater awareness, confidence, trust, and awe in their own birthing power and the power of life itself.”
