Ear Infections & Chiropractic Care

Why does my child keep getting ear infections?

If your child has had repeated ear infections, you’re not alone.

Many families find themselves in a cycle:

  • fluid builds

  • hearing becomes muffled

  • infections develop

  • antibiotics are prescribed

…and then it happens again

While infections are common in children, repeated ear infections are often a sign that something deeper hasn’t been addressed yet.

Understanding the missing piece: drainage

Diagram comparing the ear and throat anatomy of a child and an adult, showing the angle of the Eustachian tube. The child's Eustachian tube is more horizontal and shorter at 10 degrees, while the adult's is angled downward at 45 degrees. Text explains this difference and its impact on ear problems.

Inside the ear is a small canal called the Eustachian tube, which helps drain fluid from the middle ear.

In children:

this tube is shorter and more horizontal

which makes it easier for fluid to get stuck

When fluid doesn’t drain well, it creates an environment where infections can develop more easily.

In many cases, the issue isn’t just exposure to germs—it’s how well the ear is able to drain.

How the neck plays a role

The upper neck (just below the skull) is closely connected to the muscles and nerves that influence the ear.

When there is tension or restriction in this area, it may affect how well the ear drains.

This tension can come from:

birth (even smooth deliveries)

early falls and bumps

posture and daily stress

For some children, this can contribute to the pattern of recurrent ear issues.

How chiropractic care may help

Pediatric chiropractic care focuses on:

  • reducing tension in the upper neck

  • restoring gentle movement and alignment

  • supporting the nervous system

Care is extremely gentle and specific, using light pressure appropriate

for infants and children.

The goal is not to “treat ear infections,” but to:
* support the body’s ability to function and drain naturally

Every child is different, but many parents report improvements in:

  • ear fluid and congestion

  • frequency of infections

  • sleep

  • overall comfort

Chiropractic care supports the body’s natural ability to drain and regulate, which plays a key role in ear health. What parents often notice

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We finally broke the cycle!

We were stuck in the constant ear infection cycle…antibiotics, a few weeks of relief, and then it would come right back. It was exhausting. After starting care here, we noticed a big difference. Fewer symptoms, better sleep, and no infections since. Wish we had found this sooner.

Avoided tubes

Our pediatrician had started talking about ear tubes after multiple infections, and I just felt like there had to be another option to try first. We decided to try chiropractic first, and I’m so glad we did. Dr Sura’s care was incredibly gentle, and my child actually enjoyed the visits. Over time, the congestion improved and the infections stopped coming back.We ended up not needing tubes, which was a huge relief.

Lasting Results

My daughter had fluid in her ears for months, and we were constantly monitoring it. After starting care, things gradually started to shift; less fluid, better mood, and she just seemed more comfortable overall. I’m really grateful we found Dr Sura and chiropractic.
